Nonprofit distributes care packages in East County

More than 125 East Multnomah County families received care packages to keep them going through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Community Supply Distribution Drive was hosted by the Prevention and Community Public Health Department of Northwest Family Services Friday, Oct. 16. The care packages included household supplies; school supplies; grocery store gift cards; books; bus passes and food boxes. Staff, volunteers and participants wore masks and maintained social distancing in both the drive-through and walk-through distribution lines.

The care package items were partly funded by a $5,000 grant from the Rx Abuse Leadership Initiative (RALI) of Oregon, which is a coalition working collaboratively to address opioid addiction and misuse across the state. With the grant, RALI also donated 400 safe disposal pouches and information about the safe disposal of prescription medicines...
